My Story

Above: Me, Jenna Aukerman, doing some "research" in Venice...

The idea for Sioux Falls Food Tours started with a really - I mean really - good cup of coffee over 15 years ago. My first job was as a barista, and I quickly fell (or was pushed) down the rabbit hole of craft coffee. My growing appreciation for that art inevitably flooded over into the world of wine, beer, cooking, and all things culinary.

Fast forward to 2014 when I turned travel - another passion of mine - into a career move, pursuing my certification as a Tour Director from the International Tour Management Institute in San Francisco, CA. After that, the idea of combining my joy of food and guiding became a no-brainer.

So among other travels and tours, my hope as a Sioux Falls native is to showcase the best chefs, brewers, baristas, bakers, and bartenders our city has to offer. (And boy, do we have some serious talent to show off.)

When I'm not guiding tours, you can usually find me drinking great coffee, playing soccer, cooking with my husband, Bryan, tasting a new bottle of Barolo, or going for a run with our black lab, Bacchus...and sometimes that's all in one day.

Cheers! Salute!

The Colosseum, Rome.

**While I live in - and love - Sioux Falls, my soul resides in the back canals of Venice, the vineyards and farm tables of Tuscany, and walking the dusty ruins of the Colosseum, all while attempting to practice my ever-so-slowly-improving Italian. I am currently in the process of creating specialized region-specific culinary tours within Italy. If you are interested in advice, insight, or traveling with me to Italy (or elsewhere), please feel free to contact me
